Biography:
Princess Leia Organa Solo has held many roles in her life, but none have been quite as important as those of wife, Jedi Knight in training, and senator. She has been able to bring together groups of people to reach a common goal, which was helpful in the days of the Rebellion.

Leia first met up with her future husband, Han Solo in Star Wars: A New Hope when he, along with her brother Luke Skywalker burst into Cell Block AA-24 to rescue her because she was scheduled to be terminated. It was not love at first sight for the smuggler and fiery princess, but as the movies progressed their feelings for each other deepened. Leia found herself irrestibly attracted to the smuggler and in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, she realised her feelings for Han were feelings of love. When he was being put into carbonite, she first professed her feelings by saying, “I love you” which solicited the ever famous reply, “I know.” In Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Han professed his love and she confessed that her feelings for Luke were nothing more than the love between a brother and a sister. This was shocking to Han, but a pleasant surprise.

Shortly after Jedi, Han and Leia had a rather rocky relationship which was made more difficult when Prince Isolder proposed to her. Han wisked her away to Dathomir where they met the Witches of Dathomir (potential Jedi) and the Nightsisters. Leia was at first furious with Han, but eventually came to the realisation that she could not marry Isoldar because she did not love him. So, she returned to Han and they married.

Leia’s brother, Luke, has over the years been attempting to teach Leia the ways of the Force, but she is skeptical. She remembers what happened to their father and to Luke himself and this frightens her. Perhaps someday, she will be able to put her fears aside and become a Jedi Knight.

Carrie Fisher: The woman behind Princess Leia

“Both Fisher’s personal and professional lives have been tied into the big screen since she took that famous swing with Luke Skywalker. In addition to such films as The Blues Brothers, Under the Rainbow, The Man with One Red Shoe, Hannah and Her Sisters, The ‘Burbs, When Harry Met Sally, Drop Dead Fred, Soapdish, and This is My Life, her own struggle with drug addiction became a book (Postcards from the Edge) and a movie. In fact, Fisher’s writing career is equal to her acting career-her other best-selling books include Surrender the Pink and Delusions of Grandma. She’s also one of Hollywood’s most sought-after script doctors, having performed surgery on Hook, Sister Act, and Lethal Weapon 3.
In her own words: ‘As far as most people are concerned, I’ll go to my grave as Princess Leia. In the street they call out, ‘Hi Princess,’ which makes me feel like a poodle. See, my grandmother had dog named Princess.”
